how do I install a dvd recorder, a dvd player and a Direct TV box to a television correctly?

you really don't need a player hooked up to a recorder. the recorder plays just as well. hook up the dtv to both the tv and the dvd-r. it has two outputs. THis way the recorder can record whatever you are watching.
