Hi there i wanted to record my Xbox 360 console which only supports component < none HDMI >
but the problem lies on which PVR do i chose the model one or two i don't think the model 2 supports component live streaming but i'm unsure

Here is a few things i need answering :-)

(1) Does the model 2 version support component video

(2) Do both Versions record in game party chat

(3) is there any real differences between the two if i'm just using component cables wouldn't the model 1 version be more suitable and cheaper purchase

Thanks

Hi Joe

If you want to play via component from your TV then you will need the HD PVR Gaming Edition as the HD PVR 2 range requires you to have HDMI from your TV.

If you want to just play via your console in component you can do this via the HD PVR 2 range.

The HD PVR 2 will connect via your TV by HDMI and then it will connect to your console via the supplied component cables. You can play in 1080p via component and you can stream as normal.

Because we made the component 1080p update via component, there will be no real difference.

I would definitely recommend the HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition for your use.

Hello there, It's a great question and I'm glad you've asked that. The Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Supports Component and HDMI so you've got the choice, they both also record in the same quality hitting up to 720p or 1080p depending on what you're after.

The HD PVR 2 Is a great device and if you're using the original Hauppauge HD PVR you'll notice how much it's improved and look it twice as much, I've been using my HD PVR 2 for a few months now and It's something I wouldn't go back on. The software and easy to use features make it the best device on the market.

I suggest getting the HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition for the reason it's a step about the original and you'll notice why when you get it, if you struggle to understand feel free to ask any more questions I'm free to help the best I can.

The HD PVR 2 Models uses HDMI for the Xbox 360, Component isn't used.

The previous models such as the HD PVR Gaming Edition supports component for Xbox 360.

Like the previous answer, Both can record game/party chat by changing your options from voice playing through headset to voice playing through both tv and headset. You can't record your voice via the Gaming Edition model (Models below the PVR 2).

The PVR 2 offers up a lot more features such as the program Hauppauge Capture ( http://www.hauppauge.com/capture/ ) Which offers a huge amount of features but as you have said your xbox doesn't support HDMI so the PVR 2 is not the one for you.

You'll need to purchase the original HD PVR Gaming Edition :) The reason I am telling you to order the Gaming Edition over the standard edition is because all the cables needed are provided along with better software for your device :D

(1) No, the HD PVR 2 does not use components. The first does though, it is what I use

(2) Both can record game party chat, they cannot record your voice though

(3) I suggest going with the first one since you have a component setup
