I bought a DVR and it needs to be activated. The only way that I can get it activated is by calling Direct Tv. If I call will they charge me for the DVR fee? (the 5.99 or so)? Or are they just going to active it? I just switch from dish and miss the DVR Help and thanks!!!!!!

Well.depends on where u got it, if it was like from ebay and it is like a hughes, rca, PHILIPS for example then u just need to purchase 20 dollar access card and pay the 7 dollar dvr service fee with no commitment. If it is listed as a leased receiver then I dont believe u can activate it on the account, but u will have to contact directv to activate, and find out the status of the receiver

If its been purchased at a retail store then u can just call to activate, but the 7 dollars is a,mandatory fee to use the dvr
