.mov is a multimedia format used by Apple Quicktime. If you have that on your system, you should be able to play it. DivX may not have codecs available for it - although I am sure that QuickTime can play DivX files - it seems to be able to play more types of files than anything else. If you are adamant about using DivX, go to their website and see if they have a codec or plug-in for the file you are trying to open.

You can get QuickTime here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

It's a free download.

Every now and then, if certain components of Windows or anything are somehow replaced or uninstalled, then certain codecs may be missing. This is especially common with Windows Media Player where people get the error that the requested codec cannot be downloaded. I have a feeling something similar has happened to your DivX player, altho I can't confirm that. I don't dabble with .mov files, nor do I use the DivX player.

I can recommend the VLC Player. You can download the player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/, or just google it and you will find it. The latest version on that site is 0.8.6. The reason I recommend this player is because it is a highly useful, multi-functional media player, especially for video files. It downloads updated codecs automatically, much like how Windows Updates downloads updates for your operating system. Therefore, your player will always have up-to-date information.

The player is so convenient, that you can even play .bin files without a .cue file. That is how versatile the program is.

Hope this helps.

Divx player can't play MOV video, you need quicktime to play MOV video. Or you can follow this step by step guide to convert the mov video to avi video for playback on Divx player.

Apple's basic QuickTime player is available for free download at http://apple.com/quicktime/

QuickTime and DivX Player aren't bad media players, but are pretty limited in the supported media formats. For a more all-in-one media player, try VLC:

http://videolan.org/It's open source and available for Windows, Macs and Linux. VLC plays a pretty extensive list of multimedia formats (including some obscure ones) and also has network streaming capability (e.g. play a DVD on a desktop computer, but watch the movie from a laptop that doesn't have a DVD drive).
