I used to repair VHS back in the dark ages of the Eighties.
I never taped a broken one, but that may be the simplest thing to try at first.
What I used to do is take another tape apart, take the tape out of it and transfer the first part of the broken tape to the new case and copy it. Then I would do the same thing with the second part of the broken tape.
You will lose the section where the break is but you would get all of the rest.
Try taping it first and if it works you are home free.

Scotch tape will work. There is a hole on the bottom of the cassette that you can put a pencil into that will allow you to pull some of the tape out of the cassette. Cut the two ends of the broken tape so that are square, then set them next to each other. Use one piece of tape to connect them and cut the excess tape off the top and bottom.

i used to would desire to try this plenty as a television engineer. information human beings can wreck something :) after restoration, positioned a label on the cassette to remind them to not use that tape back. paintings heavily and it particularly is not too stressful. "magic mending tape", the frosted style works rather sturdy. by no ability positioned on the realm that touches the recording heads. trim with non-magnetic scissors or razor blades (chrome metallic type). in case you are trying this in many cases, then i advise which you keep a stash of previous cassettes which you will do away with reels and areas from to help with the upkeep. do not difficulty attempting to repair the real affordable audio cassettes that are glued at the same time. and finally, prepare this a pair of cases on your person cassettes before tearing right into a consumers tape because of the fact the 1st time with the aid of would be carriers to blunders.

You can have your VHS tape repaired. I had the same thing happen to one of my tapes, I sent it to StashSpace.Com to be transferred to DVD and they fixed it for me.
