DVDs are not copy protected. They are DRMd. I.E. you can read the contents and write them to a new DVD. However the contents are encrypted, so you need the decryption algorithm and decryption key to be able to decrypt the contents and display the video. This is CSS (Content Scrambling System). CSS was defined by incompetent idiots. Firstly it was crypographically weak and got broken quickly, secondly it was a DRM scheme, meaning the equipment you buy to read the discs (DVD players) need to have the keys installed. It is a simple reverse engineering exercise to get the keys. If Nero won't copy it, it's because nero refuses to do so. Install Linux and use the copying tools that are not crippled.

You probably cannot copy the whole dvd. However, if you go to root directory of the disc, you may copy most of it.
