I have Tivo and I enjoy using it daily. However, I'd like to be able to convert recorded TIVO programs into mpeg-4 format in order to make them more portable or backup onto DVD.

Is there an easy, cheap way to do this?

I'm still on a Tivo Series 1 and am impatiently waiting for the Tivo Series 3 to come out this year. So I've not tried any of this myself.

However, I did a Yahoo Search for:

TivoToGo MPEG-4

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=TivoToGo+MPEG-4&y=Search+the+Web&ei=UTF-8&fr=slv1-&x=wrt

convert TivoToGo MPEG-4

It seems that Tivo is or will support MPEG-4 directly for iPod Video, Creative Zen Vision, and other portable players:

The Engadget article had this link on steps to convert TiVo's MPEG-2 format to MPEG-4:

Good luck!
