No. The chemicals in the label adhesive can break down over time and damage the disc. Additionally, the label can become loose over time and cause problems. Use a non-toxic marker to label your discs or invest in a Lightscribe drive.

No, if you stick a label on dvd (or cd) it may cause an unbalance effet during rotation in drive. plus, in future you may want to pick it up and this can cause damages to the thin reflective layer covers the dvd or cd and its harmful for data.

in the users' manual of your player (or drive) it should be indicated not to do this. just write down on it with a soft marker.

Yes, I have been labeling my CD's & DVD's for years. I have never had an Issue. I recommend CD Stomper. Let your label dry well apply it with the stomper, turn label side up on the stomper and firmly set the label all around with your thumb.

Yeah, now they have a thing where you can print directly onto your dvd if you have the proper printer, I bought one last week and it's so sweet.

My roommate has a system, using labels to log ,identifiy and store his collection.He's got it down.
